Job summary

HUD is building datasets and evals for embodied AI. We’re seeking a Research Engineer for our Robotics team to translate open research questions into data specifications, develop validation tools, and run experiments to improve model performance.

You will collaborate with research and engineering teams, design data schemas, annotations, and quality standards, and help external providers deliver high-quality robotics data at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience in robotics or embodied AI research.
• Proficiency in Python and data tooling.
• Ability to translate research questions into datasets and experiments.
• Attention to data quality and coverage.
• Experience building research tools and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Research the data needs of robot learning and turn them into dataset specs.
• Define data schemas, annotations, ground truth, and quality standards.
• Design collection and review protocols for external providers.
• Build tools and validation workflows to audit datasets and give feedback.
• Run experiments and analyze model behavior with data quality insights.
• Collaborate with research and engineering teams to improve offerings.
