Job summary

Proception Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Research Intern to help build the data engine behind robot policies. You will own a piece of the stack end-to-end, from teleoperation data collection through curation and on‑robot deployment, collaborating with AI, hardware, and perception teams.

You will gain hands-on experience with real robots and large‑scale datasets, publish or contribute to research, and work on cutting‑edge robot learning and manipulation problems.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD candidate in Robotics, CS, EE, or related field.
• Proficient Python, C++ a plus, in Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with real robots or physical systems.
• Familiar with robot data workflows: demos, multimodal sensor streams, data curation.
• Comfort with sensor data (RGB/depth, proprioception, tactile, force‑torque).
• Self-directed with ability to deliver working results quickly.
• Experience with ROS 2 or similar middleware, or real‑time systems.
• Experience deploying learning policies on hardware.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve components of the teleoperation and demonstration‑collection stack.
• Support data collection on real robots and raise throughput and quality.
• Contribute to the pipeline from robot data to training set, incl. synchronization and annotation tooling.
• Build QA, metrics, and visualization tooling for dataset consistency.
• Help deploy trained policies to real hardware and run on‑robot evaluations.
• Assist with hardware bring‑up — cameras, tactile, force‑torque on rigs.
• Collaborate with AI, hardware, and perception teams and own a scoped project from idea to demonstration.
