  • Partner closely with hardware engineering team members on developing systems from prototyping to production level.
  • Launch, test, and debug our systems both in the lab and in the field.
  • Develop tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting, including HMI development.
  • Work with stakeholders across hardware, science, and operations teams to iterate on systems design and implementation.
  • Contribute to value engineering of the system’s electrical and controls hardware components.
  • Up to 15% travel expected to assist onsite system testing.

We are seeking an experienced Robotics Control Engineer to join our Motion Planning and Control team. In this role, you will leverage your experience and insights gained from delivering systems to help lead us in developing products that are both innovative and scalable. Working with a world-class team of experts in motion planning, control theory, computer vision, machine learning, and robotic hardware design, you will apply the latest research trends to tackle complex real-world challenges. Collectively, we aim to achieve high-impact algorithmic advancements in areas such as closed-loop control, robotic grasping, and manipulation in high-contact environments - each of which carries significant value for our current and future fulfillment networks.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life
  • Developing new features to enhance the capabilities of our robotic workcells, improve their performance, improve diagnostics, or improve the tasks of those that operate, maintain, service, or commission our systems.
  • Creating system designs for complex features or approaches. Partner with team members to seek and incorporate feedback.
  • Performing code reviews for team members, or replying to the code reviews you've received back.
  • Testing features and functionality in our machines or test cells in our lab
  • Working with the teams running our machines, processing actual Amazon inventory, providing guidance, and receiving feedback on how our systems are being used.

About The Team

You'll be joining a team of passionate professionals dedicated to delivering innovative robotics solutions, at Amazon scale. On the Motion and Control team, you partner with hardware engineers, software engineers, perception engineers, and various partners accountable for testing, deploying, operating, and maintaining our systems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
