Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking an early‑ to mid‑career Mechanical Engineer focused on robotics and autonomy. You will join a multidisciplinary team solving national security challenges through autonomous systems, perception, and control.

You will develop hardware and software solutions, create novel algorithms, and contribute to field deployments while collaborating across disciplines in a hybrid work setting with occasional telecommuting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on fast-moving projects advancing robotic systems.
• Develop methods to enable robotic perception, manipulation, and interaction with environments.
• Create algorithms for automation, autonomy, and perception based on geometric/semantic data.
• Develop and field robots, actuators, and autonomous control systems.
• Publish results and contribute to competitive funding proposals.
