Job summary

Nemak in Augusta, GA seeks an automation engineer to develop and optimize PLC and HMI programs for HPDC processes, and to program, maintain and troubleshoot industrial robots from Fanuc, ABB, and KUKA.

The role requires 3+ years in automation engineering, strong PLC/HMI and network skills, and a preference for automotive/manufacturing experience. On-site position with growth opportunities and safety compliance responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in automation engineering
  • Strong expertise in PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and industrial networks
  • Experience in die casting or automotive manufacturing preferred
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Develops and optimizes PLC and HMI programs for HPDC processes
  • Programs, maintains and troubleshoots industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots automation issues and implement improvements
  • Works with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency
  • Ensures compliance with industrial automation safety standards
  • Provides training to maintenance teams on automation best practices
  • Optimizes robotic movement and process efficiency
  • Conducts root cause analysis for robotic failures and implement corrective actions
  • Supports installation and commissioning of new robotic cells
  • Other duties as assigned

Your profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in automation engineering.
  • Strong expertise in PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and industrial networks. Siemens preferred
  • Experience in die casting or automotive manufacturing preferred
