Job summary

ADP, Inc. seeks a Robotic Welding Operator for the 1st shift in South Milwaukee, WI. You will program, set up, and operate the robotic welding system to produce high-quality welds while meeting production targets.

You will review blueprints and materials, ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, perform basic preventive maintenance, and collaborate with engineering to improve processes. A high school diploma and prior machine operation experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent is required.
• Prior machine operation experience is required.
• CNC operator experience is preferred.
• Quality and preventative maintenance experience is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience with measurement tools and precision practices.
• OSHA safety training and safety awareness are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate the robotic welding machine to weld steel parts/structures.
• Review blueprints, materials and production plans before machining and input data into the machine.
• Provide quality welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 weld code.
• Complete any required documentation for procedures.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance on the machine.
• Communicate issues to ensure smooth shift transitions and coverage.
• Implement best practices for robot programming and operation.
• Review programs and cycle times to optimize production.
• Collaborate with engineering to develop or improve processes.
• Operate crane to move material and perform grinding as needed.
• Conduct visual inspection on welds.

Summary

The Robotic Welding Operator programs, sets-up and operates the robotic welding machine, maintaining optimal productivity levels while meeting company standards of quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• Programs and operates the robotic welding machine in order to weld steel parts/steel structure
• Reviews blueprints, materials, and production plans prior to machining. Translates blueprints and drawings into dimensions and enters information in the machine for production
• Provides quality welds in accordance to AWS D1.1 weld code
• Completes any documentation needed associated to the procedure
• Performs basic preventative maintenance and other repairs on the machine
• Keeps management informed on any open issues to ensure coverage of projects and a seamless shift transition
• Implement best practices related to robot programming and machine operation
• Reviews programs and program cycle times
• Works with engineering to develop new and/or improve processes
• Operates crane to move material
• Performs grinding as needed to clean parts
• Performs a visual inspection on welds

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Quality and preventative maintenance experience preferred
• Previous machine operating experience required
• Previous CNC operator experience highly recommended

Other skills

• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints
• Ability to read, understand and interpret manufacturing documents, including blueprint reading and welding symbols
• Experience working with tape measure, calipers, square, protractors, fillet gage etc.
• Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement practices and procedures (preferably Lean Manufacturing and 6S)
• Previous OSHA safety training and strong safety aptitude
• Ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
