Job description

JOB SUMMARY

As a robotic welder, you will be responsible for setting-up, operating and performing work in a robotic welding cell using industrial welding robots to fabricate numerous metal parts and components according to customer specifications and pre-programmed machine control instructions. You might be required on occasion to do spot MIG or TIG welding as well. The Robotic Welding Operator will review drawings and specifications to accurately weld parts and metal components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and weld work from drawings or specifications using knowledge of robotic machine capabilities, base metals and weld processes to analyze the parts to be joined most effectively (plan, lay-out , tack, weld and fit-up parts and components according to specifications).

  • Load, set-up and operate robotic welding equipment. Envision completed part in 3D in order to execute planned welds using control software through the use of a teach pendant. Examine welds and unload parts to ensure that they meet standards and specifications to verify product quality.

  • Use hand-welding equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products that are not capable of being welded by the robotic welder.

  • Accurately read and use tape measures and verify product quality by using inspection and measuring equipment (gages, micrometers, rulers, etc.).

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and repair and set-up to keep robotic welders running smoothly and to reduce downtime.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

  • 2 or more years MIG Welding experience with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum

  • 2 or more years experience in metal fabrication “Fit-up” and weld procedures (job shop environment). Excludes structural steel or pipe welders.

  • 2 or more years prior robotic welding experience (experience with Fanuc Robots a plus).

  • Proficient at math and computer skills: ability to calculate fractions, dimensions and tolerances according to customer and production specifications.

  • Proficient at reading, interpreting and understanding weld symbols, blue prints and drawings in order to accurately fabricate parts and components the first time.

  • Proficient at using quality inspection equipment (gages, micrometers, rulers), GD & T preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, Walk, Sit, Squat, and/or Kneel (Constantly)

  • Handling / Fingering (Constantly)

  • Reach Outward (Frequently)

  • Reach Above Shoulder (Occasionally)

  • Lift/Carry 21-50 lbs (Occasionally)

  • Push/Pull 13-25 lbs

Benefits

  • PTO and 9 paid holidays per year

  • Medical, Dental, & Vision Plans

  • Short and Long Term Disability Plans

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with strong employer match

  • Company paid life insurance & AD&D

  • 100% tuition reimbursement for job relation classes

  • PPE reimbursement
