Job description

As a Robotics Factory Operator at Charge Robotics, you’ll be full-time in the field working on the most critical operation at our company: running, troubleshooting, and improving our robotic factory that installs utility‑scale solar farms. You'll work closely with both engineering and field operations teams to deploy a first‑of‑its‑kind robotic solar installation system that will install gigawatts of clean power generation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Operating the software that runs our state‑of‑the‑art robotic factory and fleet of delivery vehicles on solar construction sites across the US

  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and documenting electromechanical issues that come up while operating the factory in field

  • Assigning tasks to field team members to ensure materials are loaded correctly and efficiently into the factory

  • Working with the engineering team to improve factory user experience and build efficiency

You:

  • Are available for full‑time field travel (a per diem stipend will be provided to cover housing and food)

  • Have an engineering or technical degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or a related field

  • Are familiar with programming, networking, and command line workflows

  • Are comfortable doing mechanical troubleshooting of industrial automation hardware such as robotic arms, conveyors, motors, actuators, and more

  • Are a critical thinker and fast learner who can operate effectively in tough physical conditions in field and under pressure

  • Have a resilient, positive attitude and like working on a team

  • Will follow safety procedures + champion a culture of safety in the field

  • Are able to lift 50lbs if necessary

It’d also be nice if you:

  • Are familiar with finite‑state machines

  • Have built or worked with industrial automation equipment

  • Have experience working on construction sites

  • Are excited to play a direct role in fighting climate change!

About Charge Robotics

Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that build solar farms.

Demand for new solar projects is booming (1 ⁄ 5 of all the solar that exists in the US was installed last year!), but today’s construction companies can’t keep up due to limited labor resources.

We thought this was insane, so we started working on robots to directly address this bottleneck and speed up the world’s transition to renewables.

Charge is a fast‑moving company, which means constant opportunities for learning and growth. You’ll have a large impact on the direction of our company, and will be compensated accordingly.

If you are excited to work on interesting problems with direct climate impact, you’re going to fit right in at Charge Robotics.

We’re MIT‑founded and backed by top generalist and climate tech investors, including Founders Fund, Energy Impact Partners, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator (S21).

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
