Job summary

Lincoln Electric in Chattanooga seeks a skilled Robot Technician with 2-3 years of hands-on experience to perform assembly, welding, and tooling tasks on automated cells.

You will read blueprints, shim weld tooling, adjust sensors, and program basic robot actions, with travel up to 40% to customer sites as needed.

Required: high school or GED, vocational/technical training, and RIA certification. ISO/14001 compliance and EHS procedures apply.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of workable experience as a Robot Technician.
• RIA certified (Basic robot technician).
• Intermediate robot knowledge of 1 type of robot and at least 1 type of welder.

Responsibilities

• Perform cut & etch on welded parts.
• Shim weld tooling.
• Reading blueprints/assembly prints.
• Build and disassemble weld cells.
• Basic Pneumatic skills.
• Basic Machining.
• MIG welding.
• Adjust sensors (advance and retract based on HMI).
• Touch 1-2 Robot types.
• Basic Robot programming.
• Reading weld prints.
• Understand HMI and PLC interaction with robots and cell functions.
• Basic troubleshooting for robot and electrical issues.
• Travel to customer sites up to 40%.

Job Requirements

• Capable sending individuals on the road to finish open issue lists and install tooling changes using prints and work together with controls group to finish jobs abroad without supervision.
• Basic programming of material handling and spot-welding robots using grippers and spot guns.
• Capable of shimming tools to customer gages and can interpret CMM data to make adjustments to tooling.
• Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level II or higher technician
• Willing to travel up to 40% of the time to customer sites
• Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level I or higher technician

Essential skills and experience

• Basic understanding of mechanical components (metric and standard fasteners, socket head cap screws, button head, hex head, flat head and dowel pins)
• Basic understanding of electrical components, basic use of a volt meter to check for AC voltage and DC voltage.
