Job summary

Neuromech Systems in Michigan is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to design, commission, and troubleshoot automated palletizing systems for automotive clients. You will program FANUC robots, optimize pallet patterns, and integrate cells with PLC-controlled lines.

The role requires Pallet Pro expertise, knowledge of robot safety standards, and experience with PROFINET/EtherNet/IP. Travel to customer sites for installation and startup is expected, with on-site commissioning support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with FANUC robot programming (TP language, iRVision a plus).
  • Direct experience with Pallet Pro or comparable palletizing software packages.
  • Understanding of robotic safety systems and standards (ANSI/RIA R15.06 or similar).
  • Familiarity with PLC-to-robot communication protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in a live production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot FANUC robots for palletizing, material handling, and general automation applications.
  • Develop and optimize palletizing patterns and cell logic using Pallet Pro (or equivalent palletizing software).
  • Support integration of robotic cells with PLC-controlled production lines.
  • Commission new robotic systems on-site at customer facilities, including startup, debugging, and production ramp-up support.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues on active production lines.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers on PLC/robot interface logic (I/O mapping, safety interlocks, PROFINET/EtherNet-IP communication).
  • Create and maintain documentation: robot programs, cell layouts, I/O lists, and commissioning reports.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for installation, commissioning, and support.

Position Overview

We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in Pallet Pro software and FANUC robot programming to support the design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated palletizing systems for our automotive clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC platforms
  • Experience with additional robot brands (KUKA, ABB) a plus
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience
Additional Information

This role requires regular travel to customer sites and may include work on manufacturing floors, warehouses, automotive plants, and industrial facilities. Candidates must be comfortable following customer safety requirements, wearing required PPE, and supporting commissioning activities during production or off-shift windows when needed.
