Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Roanoke, VA seeks a Specimen Processing Group Lead to supervise 8–12 technicians on a nightly shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM). The role emphasizes leadership, workflow coordination, and adherence to QC and safety policies within a fast-paced lab setting.

The ideal candidate has prior experience in specimen processing, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach staff while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Internal candidates preferred for priority consideration.
• Minimum one year in SPT III or related role.
• 3 years in a laboratory environment with Specimen Processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in all Specimen Processing duties.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems with technical departments.
• Assists SPTs in test selection and problem resolution.
• Provides feedback to supervisors when issues arise.
• Completes shift paperwork and ensures cleanup at shift end.
• Monitors inventory and orders supplies as needed.
• Supports training, cross-training and department audits.
• Prioritizes work assignments to meet department deadlines.
• Coaches staff and maintains a positive work environment.
• Oversees overtime management and staffing during weekends/holidays.
