Job summary

Rinker Design Associates (RDA) is seeking a Traffic/Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team on Virginia projects. You will contribute to planning, design, and delivery of roadway and traffic projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity, collaborating with experienced engineers and project managers while taking increasing ownership of design tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
4+ years of traffic and/or roadway engineering experience.
EIT certification required; PE license preferred.
Experience with VDOT and municipal transportation projects preferred.
Proficiency with Synchro, HCS and other traffic analysis tools; VISSIM a plus.
Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer; AutoCAD is a plus.
Working knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, and VDOT design standards.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

Assist with traffic analyses, safety studies, and transportation planning efforts.
Develop traffic signal, signing, pavement marking and traffic control plans.
Prepare traffic engineering and roadway designs for transportation projects.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and other engineering software to produce roadway design documents.
Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
Ensure designs comply with VDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and local agency standards.
Participate in field reviews, site visits, and construction support activities as needed.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
