Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to support railroad flagging services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, and State DOTs.

The RWIC will coordinate on-site safety, supervise field activities, and ensure compliance with federal regulations while working across multiple projects with extensive travel. Join NRSS to lead safety on active rail yards and mainlines, maintain detailed reports, and train crew members as

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Contractor, or Consultant (preferably in MOW).
• Strong communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel for extended periods and complete required trainings (Federal, Client, and/or Company).

Responsibilities

• Provide jobsite coordination.
• Communicate clearly with Dispatchers, Train Crews, and other personnel.
• Conduct thorough job briefings with all staff on each site.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
• Identify violations and resolve them per regulations.
• Submit daily field reports of activities.
• Provide On-Track Safety per 49 CFR 214 for Class 1 Railroads and others.
