Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation in Rogers Pass is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician to perform laborer duties and lead tasks, operating trucks and heavy equipment for road maintenance, culverts, snow and ice control, and related activities.

Applicants must hold a Montana Class A CDL with tank endorsement and MEC, with 1–3 years of highway maintenance experience. Training may occur, and the position requires living within 45 road miles of the Rogers Pass Section House.

Qualifications

• Valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions
• Tank endorsement and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)
• 1–3 years of documented highway maintenance experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for culvert placement, landslide removal, crack/mastic sealing.
• Perform fence building, bridge repair, guardrail/sign installation, luminaire maintenance.
• Conduct roadway repairs, vegetation control, and roadside maintenance.
• Carry out pavement marking and striping, snow and ice control as needed.
