Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Transportation Roadway Intern for our team in New York City, NY. You will be mentored by technical experts in roadway transportation design and contribute to iconic projects that improve mobility and safety.

Within the Design & Engineering teams, you’ll gain hands-on experience with geometric design, drainage, and construction planning while supporting transportation studies and report preparation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT Certification preferred.
• Familiarity with geometric design and traffic operations principles (AASHTO, MUTCD) is a plus.

• Prepare conceptual designs and construction plans using Open Roads software.
• Develop geometric designs for highways and streets and drainage designs.
• Assist in transportation planning reports and traffic engineering studies.

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Transportation Roadway Intern to join our teams in New York City, NY. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by technical experts in the field of roadway transportation design.

Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you’ll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together.

Role accountabilities

As a Transportation Roadway Intern, you will prepare conceptual designs and construction plans through the utilization of Open Roads design software. You will also create engineering designs involving geometric design of highways and streets, drainage design (hydrology and hydraulics), and completing construction engineering and inspection tasks. Additionally, experience in the collection of traffic and highway field data and proficiency in using software platforms such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and related design and office software are integral to the position as you assist with completion of transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies, and various traffic engineering projects.

• Currently seeking Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT Certification
• Experience using OpenRoads
• Basic understanding of the application of geometric and traffic operations principles including AASHTO, MUTCD, and state DOT requirements/policies

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $26.95 - $37.20 / hour. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
