Job summary

Langan is seeking a Intern/Co-op – Highway/Roadway Engineering to join its collaborative team in Austin, TX. This role supports the design of highways, freeways and local roads for diversified transportation projects nationwide, and offers hands-on experience in design and permitting of traffic and transportation infrastructure within a cross-disciplinary learning environment.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering / Transportation Planning.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Familiarity with Guidesign and AutoTURN highly desirable.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or SoftDesk civil software a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Geometric designs of highways, freeways, and local roads using national and local codes.
• Concept layout and preliminary design of roads.
• Preparation of Traffic Signalization drawings and plans.
• Design of roadway drainage networks and preparation of stormwater management plans.
• Construction specifications review and estimating of costs and quantities.
• Preparation of Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans (MPT).
• Use engineering software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guidesign, AutoTURN, etc.) to prepare documents.
• Complete ADA inspections of constructed facilities.
• Perform other duties as requested.
