Job summary

AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to be based in Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will support highway design teams in Florida and collaborate with disciplines to complete projects, with a hybrid in-office schedule in Tampa.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and proficiency in AutoCAD, ORD, Civil 3D, and related software. Prior transportation experience is preferred; strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Job Description

AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to be based in Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will support the highway design teams in Florida by working with different disciplines to complete a variety of projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with a variety of exciting, challenging projects locally and worldwide.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for a variety of clients.


• Assist with discrete work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans.


• Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.


• Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.


• Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.


• Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.


• Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.


• Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.


• Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Transportation related experience preferred.


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.


• Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.


• Proficient in AutoCAD, ORD, Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.


• Documents time and effort accurately.

• This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Tampa, FL. The selected candidate must be available to work in Tampa, FL on a scheduled basis.
