Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector to support the CEI team on road, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance projects. The role involves on-site inspections, reviewing plans, and ensuring compliance with specs while documenting findings for project teams.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalent, 6 years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel 20%–40% nationally or internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic and measurement calculations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly.
• Solid knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and explain construction plans, drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and construction conform to plans and specs.
• Use specialized equipment and calculations to support inspections.
• Work under varying supervision levels based on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspections.
• Document inspection results and communicate findings to supervisor.
