Job summary

AAA The Auto Club Group is seeking a Service Vehicle Operator to respond to roadside assistance calls, assist stranded motorists with jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and towing when needed. You will work on the road, using tablets to manage requests, and ensure safety and customer service at all times.

This on-site role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 75 pounds, pass pre-employment screens, DOT physical, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Able to pass drug screen, background check, DOT physical.
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to roadside assistance requests using a tow truck or service vehicle.
  • Provide emergency roadside services including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing and jump starts, lockout assistance, and minor mechanical adjustments.
  • Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures and towing guidelines.
  • Verify AAA membership and deliver outstanding customer service during every interaction.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections and report vehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
  • Utilize tablets and electronic devices to manage calls, update service requests, and access towing procedures.
  • Accurately document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts.
  • Maintain DOT certification and an acceptable driving record.
  • Achieve goals related to member satisfaction, safety, productivity, and battery services.
  • Support community and special AAA events as needed.

Position Summary:

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state driver’s license withminimal driving infractions/incidents.
  • Must successfully passdrugscreening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and DOT physical examination.(pre-employment and ongoing).
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete AAA training programs.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork.

If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-NonCDL driver’s license is required

Preferred:
  • Prior experience providing roadsideassistanceservices such as battery testing, jump starts, lockoutassistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes.
  • Previoustowtruck driving experience.
  • Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment.
  • Commercial driving experience.
  • Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitude
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
Work Environment:

This is a highly active, field-based position providing roadsideservicedirectly to AAA members. Employees spend up to 95% of their time outdoors and on the road, working in varying weather conditions and around traffic environments. Less than 5% of the role is performed in a traditional office setting. Safety is always the top priority, and team members areprovidedtraining and resources to perform their duties successfully.

Compensation & Benefits Overview:

ACGcomplies withall applicable state and local lawsregardingrequired benefits(including PTO, paid sick leave, etc.).

Compensation
  • Hourly ratesstartingat $22.50 per hour
  • Overtime opportunitiespaidat time-and-a-half.
  • Shift differentials:5% premium for hours worked between 5:00 PM-11:00 PM/10% premium for hours worked between 11:00 PM-5:00 AM
  • $1,000 Sign-On Bonus, paid in installments at 90 and180 daysof employment.**To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, applicants must be new to ACG.Additionaldetails can be provided by our Recruiting Team at the time of application**
  • $250 Quarterly Perfect Attendance Bonus.
