Job summary

Gilmer County is hiring a Road Crew Member to perform manual labor in the maintenance of grounds, facilities, streets and infrastructure in Ellijay, GA. The role is full-time, daytime shifts, with supervision from a Crew Supervisor.

Responsibilities include road maintenance, drainage work, and equipment operation. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and a Georgia driver’s license with a clean MVR. Physical effort and safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 0-2 years of working in street and/or facility maintenance, grounds keeping or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license along with a clean MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual work functions associated with road construction, maintenance and repair, including repairing roads/ asphalt, patching holes and constructing sidewalks.
• Maintains rights of way, parks and public areas: mows lawns, trims grass, clears debris, maintains fencing and equipment.
• Transports, loads and unloads materials and equipment used in projects.
• Operates power equipment and hand tools used in department projects and activities.
• Responds to emergency calls during inclement weather or other emergencies.
