Job summary

Transdev North America in Chicago, IL is seeking a Road Supervisor dedicated to safety and customer service excellence. The role ensures routes follow safety procedures and reports to local management with routine evaluations.

Responsibilities include driver communications, on‑site investigations, training, and flexible scheduling. Union pay scales apply per Collective Bargaining Agreement; CDL is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
• Supervisory experience with hourly employees; 2-3 years transit supervisory experience preferred.
• Computer literate – basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical exam if applicable.
• Must not use Schedule I drugs, including cannabis.

• Day‑to‑day scheduling, counseling, and submitting evaluation reports to local management.
• Conduct on‑scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports, OSHA reports and safety violations documents.
• Develop and host driver training and safety courses; train new drivers and retrain drivers involved in accidents.
• Observe drivers on the road – correct safety problems on the scene while documenting violations.
• Liaison between drivers and both the customers and organization in customer service concerns.
• Evaluate and monitor driver safety and performance in compliance with legal, employment and labor policy matters.
• Assist Safety Manager with DOT/FTA compliance – drug testing and record‑keeping.
• May drive routes periodically.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require; willing to cover shifts on short notice.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $28.00 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement PayScale).

Physical Requirements

• Must work outdoors in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job performed outside.
• Must sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day) and frequently walk long distances, sometimes on sloped ground or uneven surfaces.
• Must push and pull objects up to 25 pounds, lift up to 50 lbs., and occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to reach ground‑level equipment.
• Must withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
