Job summary

American Structurepoint’s Cleveland office is seeking an entry-level Staff Engineer to support roadway projects for Ohio clients, including ODOT and municipal agencies. You’ll work in a collaborative team, primarily in the office with occasional site visits, and gain hands-on experience in design documentation and cost estimates.

You should be a recent or soon-to-be graduate with a civil engineering degree and up to 4 years of relevant internship or co-op experience.

Qualifications

• 0–4 years of relevant experience, such as internships, co-ops, academic projects, or entry-level engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and layout of roadway alignments, both horizontal and vertical, for real-world transportation projects.
• Get involved in key aspects of roadway design, including geometry, drainage, signage, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic.
• Help develop construction plan sets, gaining experience in how projects are prepared for bidding and construction.
• Perform quantity calculations to support bid plan development and construction cost estimates.
• Explore additional areas like pavement analysis, design, and utility coordination for a well-rounded experience.
• Take on a variety of project support tasks, learning how transportation engineering projects come to life from concept to construction.

In this role you’ll work as part of a close‑knit team on roadway projects for ODOT, cities, towns, and counties throughout Ohio. Most of your work will take place in the office , with occasional site visits , as you assist with quantity takeoffs, create construction plan sets using MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD), prepare design documentation, and develop construction cost estimates.
