Job summary

Kern Medical in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) for a full-time, day-to-night shift. The RNFA will work under the direct supervision of the surgeon during intraoperative care, providing nursing and surgical support to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

The role requires CA RN licensure, CNOR/RNFA credentials if available, and strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current unrestricted RN license in California.
• CNOR or RNFA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with positioning, prepping and draping; assist surgeon directly.
• Control bleeding, suturing and other surgical needs per surgeon directives.
• Provide exposure using instruments, retractors and suction; maintain sterile field.
• Communicate changes in patient status to the surgeon and team.
• Support perioperative assessment, teaching, and planning for patients.
