Job summary

Manchester Memorial Hospital, Inc. seeks a nurse with wound, ostomy and continence expertise to lead clinical care across the organization. The role provides education, consultation, and leadership, and serves as a resource to patients, staff, physicians, and management.

The nurse will assess and manage wounds, ostomies, skin breakdown, and incontinence; promote professional practice; ensure effective communication; and help allocate resources for safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
• Certification in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care/Enterostomal Therapy Nursing is required.
• Completion of accredited coursework in conservative sharp wound debridement and successful completion of 10 hours of supervision by a surgeon preferred.
• BSN in nursing required. MSN in Nursing preferred.
• Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment within this role.
• EXPERIENCE: Must have two (2) to three (3) years or more of progressive experience in clinical practice in the medical/surgical area.

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care of wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, skin breakdown, ostomy care and incontinence.
