Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 15-bed step-down unit serving vascular, cardiac surgery and cardiology adult patients with intermediate and general care needs.

The role includes 8/12-hour day/night shifts with a two in six weekend rotation, holiday rotation, and opportunities to participate in shared governance, evidence-based practice, and progressive care initiatives on a Magnet-designated team.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Six (6) months nursing experience or Nurse Residency Program completion required.
• RN license in WI or compact state, upon hire required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification, upon hire required.
• ACLS within 6 months required.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients on a 15-bed step-down unit serving vascular, cardiac surgery and cardiology adult populations.
• Advance skills at a level 1 trauma center caring for aneurysm repairs, carotid endarterectomies and limb-sparing therapies.
• Participate in shared governance and lead quality-improvement initiatives.
• Work in a patient- and family-centered environment with daily care team visits.
• Apply evidence-based practice and contribute to progressive care changes.
