Job summary

Metropolitan Behavioral Health, a UHS facility in Michigan, is seeking an RN Unit Manager to provide administrative and clinical supervision across two 24-bed inpatient units (Adolescent and Adult), ensuring coordinated, high-quality psychiatric care. You will lead nursing staff, coordinate with physicians and department leaders, oversee scheduling and training, and perform direct patient care as needed.

A BSN is preferred; a Michigan RN license, 5 years of progressive nursing leadership, CPR

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
• Currently licensed by the State of Michigan as an RN

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clinical supervision to all nursing staff and mental health technicians.
• Liaise with department directors and hospital administration to ensure coordinated operations.
• Oversee staff scheduling, training, and evaluation; delegate duties as needed.
• Perform direct patient care in the nursing capacity when required.
• Manage two 24-bed inpatient units (Adolescent and Adult) and collaborate with Unit C and Unit F teams.
• Coordinate with physicians and department managers to ensure high-quality psychiatric care.

RN UNIT MANAGER

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24-hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Unit Manager provides administrative and clinical supervision to all nursing staff and mental health technicians on two or more units. The Unit Manager is a liaison to department directors and administration to ensure coordinated and efficient operations of services and departments on their unit. As a member of hospital operational leadership, this person has responsibility for treatment services provided by the nursing department for the inpatient psychiatric programs. Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to providing administrative management, training and supervision/evaluation of all nursing staff, house supervisors, and unit clerks; prioritization and delegation of duties; staff scheduling; and performing direct patient care services in the Nursing capacity. This working supervisor role must work in cooperation with physician staff and other department managers. Unit Managers are each assigned two 24-bed units. This role will work with Units C (Adolescent) & F (Adult).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience. Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures and 24-hour shift staffing experience.

Licensure: Currently licensed by the State of Michigan as an RN

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of Leadership, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. Current CPR certification.

This role will work with Units A (dual diagnosis) & B (senior adults).
