The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an RN Unit Coordinator for Cardiac Telemetry at Olathe Hospital. The role entails charge nurse duties, staff assignments, throughput management, and staff development in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.

Requirements include a high school diploma and a BSN degree (or progress toward BSN per policy). ADN nurses must pursue BSN within 6 months and complete it by the third anniversary. A Master’s in Nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BSN degree is required upon hire for Nurses hired after November 1, 2025; ADN prepared nurses must enroll in a BSN degree program within 6 months of hire date and complete BSN within three years.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to patient and staff needs and manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs.
  • Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of staff; collaborates with Nurse Manager and HR on performance management and discipline.
  • Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily monitoring and performance management.
  • Acts as a role model and mentor for clinical practice excellence and patient and staff satisfaction.
  • Maintains productivity targets and budget compliance; leads unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing Southwest KC Market Locations: Nurses hired after November 1, 2025, BSN degree is required upon hire. For ADN prepared nurses hired before November 1, 2025, must be enrolled in a BSN degree program within 6 months of hire date, must complete BSN degree by the third anniversary of hire date.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master Degree Nursing
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or State of Missouri

As a condition of your employment and continued employment with the health system, you are required to secure a Nurse Compact License (NCL) within 60 days of your date of hire. This will enable you to perform your job duties not only in Kansas, but other compact states. You will be responsible for any expenses you incur in securing this license, and must provide your manager with evidence of this license before the sixty-day period expires. If you fail to secure the NCL as required, you will be immediately removed from the work schedule and placed on an unpaid administrative leave, until we can understand the reasons for your non-compliance. Further failure to comply with the licensing requirement will result in your end of employment with the health system.
