Job summary

University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority in Madison, WI seeks an RN Oncology Navigator to lead comprehensive cancer care across all phases. The role focuses on removing barriers, coordinating transitions, and supporting patients and families throughout the continuum.

The position requires a BSN, 3 years of nursing experience, and Wisconsin RN licensure with CPR/BLS. Oncology certification is preferred; 100% FTE daytime schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience in the patient population supported preferred.
  • Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin upon hire required.
  • BLS/CPR upon hire required.
  • Oncology certification based on patient population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be a leader in providing comprehensive cancer care for patients and caregivers throughout all phases of cancer care.
  • Assess barriers to care, psychosocial and learning needs, and advocate for patients and caregivers.
  • Facilitate timely and coordinated transitions of care and provide education and emotional support.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings.
  • Engage in continuous quality and process improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule:

100% FTE, day shift. Monday through Friday between the hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Hours may very depending on the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking an RN Oncology Navigator to:

  • Be a leader in providing comprehensive cancer care for patients and caregivers throughout all phases of cancer care
  • Assess patients' barriers to care, psychosocial, and learning needs to advocate for and support patients and caregivers, collaboratively with teams and support services, as we strive to provide equitable care and outcomes for our patients
  • Facilitate timely and coordinated transitions of care, provide anticipatory guidance, reinforce patient and caregiver education, provide guidance in the shared decision-making process, and provide mental and emotional support to patients and caregivers through the continuum of cancer care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings
  • Participate in continuous quality and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Work Experience

  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • 1 year of relevant experience in the specific patient population being supported Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire Required
  • Applicable Oncology certification based on patient population Preferred
