Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate nursing care, develop patient care plans, and provide emotional support to patients and families. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to understand conditions, medications, and self‑care needs.

This role requires RN licensure and strong communication. You will coordinate with physicians and staff, teach patients about care plans, and maintain a safe environment with adherence to infection control

Qualifications

• Must be able to work the hours specified and perform each essential job function satisfactorily.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating nursing care plans to the healthcare team.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining histories, examining patients, documenting status, and setting objectives.
• Teaches healthcare requirements to patients and families to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills.
• Evaluates patient care by adhering to standards, reviewing records, and adjusting plans as needed.
• Maintains safe patient care environment by following infection-control policies and safety regulations.
