Job summary

Alvarado Care Center in Santa Barbara, CA is seeking an RN for our Subacute unit. The RN provides direct, age-specific resident care and leads the nursing team on assigned shifts.

Responsibilities include assessments, care planning with an interdisciplinary team, medication administration (including IV therapy), and supervising LVNs and CNAs. Requirements include CA RN license, BCLS, Associate's degree, 6 months acute care RN experience, English proficiency, and strong math for dosages.

Qualifications

• Current, valid California RN licensure required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• RN graduate with an Associate's Degree from an accredited school.
• At least 6 months RN experience in general acute care or equivalent.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information in English.
• Proficiency in basic math for dosage and IV calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific resident care on assigned shifts.
• Assess residents and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide clinical leadership to LVNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy and pain management.
• Manage care for technologically dependent residents (enteral feeds, ostomies, central lines).
• Document timely and accurately per physician orders and facility policies.
• Respect resident rights, privacy, and dignity in care.
• Respond to emergencies and follow established procedures.
