Job summary

Freeman Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU) in Joplin, MO. The role furthers the hospital's Stroke Accreditation efforts by delivering comprehensive patient care on a 35-bed unit.

You will collaborate with RNs, LPNs, and staff to assess patient needs, implement plans, and ensure safe, effective care for stroke and dialysis patients. This full-time daytime role includes ongoing certifications and competency requirements.

Qualifications

• Current Missouri RN license or compact-state license; if compact, must reside in the state.
• ACLS certification preferred; ACLS within 120 days if required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days.
• ASLS within 180 days; CPI training within 365 days.
• RN competency review annually by transcript due date.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical, emotional and psychosocial needs; plan and implement care.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective care.
• Monitor stroke and dialysis patients on the designated unit.

About Us - Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU)

The cardiac medical unit is a 35-bed department consisting of multidisciplinary teams of RNs, LPNs, nurse technicians, and ancillary staff. We work together to provide compassionate patient care for stroke and dialysis patients.
CMU serves Freeman and our community as the designated stroke floor to help maintain a Level II Stroke Accreditation.
We serve a population of hemodynamically stable neuro-medical and renal patients.

What You'll Do

In Conjunction With The Medical Plan Of Care, Independently Performs Systematic And Continuous Assessment Of The Physical, Emotional, Clinical, And Psychosocial Needs Of Assigned Patients And Families; Plans And Implements Appropriate Interventions; And Evaluates Effectiveness And Adjusts Plan As Indicated In A Timely Manner In The Provision Of Safe And Effective Care.

Requirements

Current Missouri Registered Nurse License Or Current Registered Nurse License From A Compact State. If A Compact License Is Held, It Must Be In The Nurse's State Of Residence.

If No Experience As An RN Or LPN In A Hospital Setting Or It Has Been More Than 5 Years Since Last Worked In A Hospital Setting, Nurses Must Successfully Pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) Within 30 Days.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Preferred.

AHA ACLS Within 120 Days.

AHA BLS For Healthcare Providers Within 60 Days.

ASLS - Advanced Stroke Life Support Within 180 Days.

NIH Stroke Scale Certification Within 90 Days.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) Within 365 Days.

RN Competency Day Annually By Transcript Due Date.

Stroke CEU Hours - 8 Per Year Annually By Transcript Due Date.
