Job summary

Adventist Health White Memorial in Los Angeles seeks an experienced RN for the Special Procedures department to coordinate and deliver patient care. The role involves direct and indirect responsibilities across cardiac cath lab settings, applying policies and the organization’s mission to promote patient safety and healing.

Required RN licensure in California, ACLS and BLS; BSN preferred with critical care or cardiac lab experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Observe, evaluate, and coordinate patient care in the Special Procedures department.
• Connect EKG leads, monitor hemodynamics, and alert physicians to changes.
• Operate MIDAS and related equipment; document findings and outcomes.
• Collaborate with care team to provide safe, healing environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Registered Nurse experience with critical care experience or medical-surgical or experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedure department: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
• Advanced Electrocardiogram (EKG) certification: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
• Connect electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and alerts doctor of any changes in patient condition. Records analyzes hemodynamic parameters and calculates shunt and valves and other data. Monitors patient, analyzes electrocardiogram (EKG) and hemodynamic parameter and reports to physician any changes in patient’s condition.
• Operates computerized MIDAS system with accuracy and evaluates and reports significant data and findings throughout all procedures for all patients of various age groups. Operates other specialized equipment: Datascope Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Baxter Cardiac Output, Automated Coagulation Timer (ACT) machine, American Optical Unistat Oximeter, Medrad injector, Life Pak, Defibrillator, Sony digital systems, GE Advantx X-ray system.
• Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
