Job summary

Osceola Medical Center is seeking an RN Shift Supervisor to oversee hospital staff, patient care, and operations, reporting to a clinician. In this role you direct administrative tasks when the department manager is absent and ensure nursing standards are maintained.

The position requires Wisconsin RN licensure, ED experience, and multiple certifications. You will lead a fast-paced med/surg environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with Wisconsin RN licensure.
  • 1+ years’ Emergency Department RN experience, required.
  • 3+ years related experience in a hospital setting, preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC, TNCC, NRP certifications required within specified times.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adequate staffing.
  • Ensure nursing operational standards are met.
  • Provide reports on productivity, quality and customer service metrics.
  • Ensure all nurses follow policies and procedures.
  • Train new team members.

Job Summary:

The RN Shift Supervisor works under the direction of a clinician and is responsible for oversight of hospital staff, patient care, employees, and the facility. Duties when working as House Supervisor include directing and conducting administrative functions in the absence of department manager.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Wisconsin RN licensure or ability to obtain, required.
  • 1+ years’ experience as an Emergency Department RN, required.
  • 3+ years related experience in a hospital setting, preferred.
  • BLS certification, required.
  • ACLS certification (within 3 months of hire), required.
  • PALs or ENPC (within 3 months of hire), required.
  • TNCC (within 6 months of hire), required.
  • NRP (within 3 months of hire), required.

Physical Requirements for the Role:
  • Mobility & Stamina: Walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching (above shoulders and below waist) throughout the shift.
  • Strength & Lifting: Ability to lift, pull, push, and support at least 25–50 pounds, such as moving equipment, repositioning patients, or assisting with ambulation.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Precise hand-eye coordination for tasks like handling syringes, inserting catheters, manipulating small equipment, and typing.
  • Endurance: Ability to sustain repetitive movements (e.g., CPR) and maintain physical stamina for long shifts, often running between 8 and 12 hours.
  • Sensory Abilities: Visual acuity (including color vision) and hearing to assess patients, monitor equipment, and hear alarms.

The med/surg unit is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with high emotional intensity where you will care for patients with diverse, complex, and rapidly changing conditions. The workload can be heavy, so we focus on creating a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment to ensure patient centered care. There is the potential for exposure to infectious patients, harmful physical agents, and hazardous or toxic substances.
