Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks an RN Service Line Coordinator to supervise education and professional development for perioperative services. You will coordinate rounds, staff development, and compliance with standards across the OR and related departments.

Responsibilities include coordinating orientation, updating equipment planning, and ensuring on-time case starts while maintaining quality benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • BSN with 2 years in area of practice or ADN with 4 years.
  • Current RN license in the state or multi-state via eNLC.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates education and professional development to maintain standards of practice.
  • Communicates with charge RNs, OR control desk, staff, and surgeons to ensure cases proceed as planned.
  • Reviews OR schedule at least one week in advance for case needs and equipment.
  • Expedites first case on-time starts and room turnover to meet efficiency and quality benchmarks.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards/instrumentation trays and participates in capital equipment planning.
  • Partners with SPD, Supply Chain Operations, nursing departments, and physician offices to ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Monitors vendors in patient care areas in coordination with Allied following policies/procedures.
  • Facilitates nursing unit education plans for orientation, staff development, continuing education, competency validation, patient education, and academic experiences.
  • Defines orientation and staff development needs for all service line employees with progress via goal setting and evaluations.
  • Ensures service line staffing aligns with block scheduling and creates the staff schedule monthly.
  • Supports department compliance including preparation for regulatory surveys.
  • Collaborates with managers to develop unit standards, policies, procedures, protocols, documentation, forms, and monitoring tools.
  • Participates in Goals and Objectives of Perioperative Services and supports hospital goals.
  • Models WVU Medicine Standards of Behavior.
  • Supports OR staffing in clinical RN capacity (scrub or circulating).
  • Requires in-person duties; no remote work.

In collaboration with leaders, facilitates the nursing unit’s education plan for nursing orientation, staff development, continuing education, competency validation, patient education, and academic experiences.9. Defines and coordinates orientation and staff development needs for all service line employees. Individualizes orientation/development, evaluates progress through goal setting, and conducts probationary/annual evaluations including the creation and monitoring of performance action plans. Ensures annual staff competencies and skills to fulfill service expectations.10. Demonstrates working knowledge of service line staffing plan and required FTEs to match service block scheduling so as to monthly create a working staff service line schedule.11.
