Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Dexter, MI to support students in the school health room or district setting. The role includes providing professional medical care, health evaluations, and coordination of screenings and health education.

Ideal candidates are Michigan-licensed RNs with CPR certification and strong communication skills. Two years of school nurse experience is preferred; flexible scheduling and comprehensive benefits are included.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional medical treatment to students in school settings.
• Early detection of student health issues and complete health evaluations.
• Coordinate vision, hearing, and orthopedic screenings and health assessments.
• Assist with disease prevention, nutrition, and health education.
• Promote health education and immunization programs with staff.
• Develop and oversee student IHPs and medication administration as required.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and provide emergency aid.
• Consult with staff and provide in-service health training as needed.
• Support health instruction and counseling for students and families.

Hourly Pay: $38 - $42 / per hour

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing professional, medical treatment to students
• Responsible for early detection of student physical problems and for completing student health evaluations
• Coordinates vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments
• Responsible for providing, or assisting teachers with providing disease prevention, nutrition and general health education
• Assists school personnel with the promotion of health education and immunization programs
• Designs and implements student Individualized Health Plans (IHPs) Provides, and/or oversees, student medication administration and medical treatments as required by student’s IHP
• Maintains clinical records
• Provides emergency aid to students and school staff
• Consults with, conducts in-service training for, and serves as a resource person for school staff
• Participates in the implementation of health instruction/curriculum
• Counsels & assists students and parents in health-related adjustments

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in specific state required
• Two years of successful experience as a school nurse preferred
• Valid CPR certification required
• Successful completion of training, testing, and/or additional requirements as stated by contract required
• Excellent Communication skills
• Proficiency in the English language required
• Current Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation) required
• Must meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirements
• Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation
• Must be at least 18 years of age
