Job summary

Ochsner Health System seeks an experienced nurse leader to supervise patient care using the nursing process within applicable standards. The role delegates tasks to licensed and support staff, while coordinating the care plan across the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The incumbent is responsible for professional accountability, adherence to compliance and privacy standards, and ongoing development with clinical knowledge and credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; RN license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call).

This job serves as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members. Assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes and takes initiative when collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and coordinating the patient’s plan of care. Assumes professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports nursing department’s philosophy of nursing. Education Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience Required – 2 years of relevant experience. Computer experience.

Certifications Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
