Job summary

Ochsner Health seeks an RN leader to direct patient care using the nursing process within regulatory standards. You will supervise licensed and ancillary staff, coordinate patient plans, and drive quality outcomes in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role requires an active RN license in the state, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of relevant experience. A BSN is preferred, with flexibility to support a 24/7 schedule and departmental collaboration.

This job serves as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members. Assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes and takes initiative when collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and coordinating the patient’s plan of care. Assumes professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports nursing department’s philosophy of nursing.

Education

Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in nursing.


Work Experience

Required -2 years of relevant experience.
Computer experience.


Certifications

Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.


Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

  • Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing, while maintaining one’s own professional development with clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.


Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
