Job summary

Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for Same Day Surgery (Multi-Specialty). You will rotate between Pre-Operative Preparation and Phase II Recovery/Discharge, providing perianesthesia care for a diverse surgical patient population.

The role requires active RN license, BLS and ACLS, 1–2 years of surgical services experience; strong IV skills and ability to educate patients across specialties.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (Virginia or Compact).
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred/required as stated.
• 1–2 years of RN experience; background in surgical services, ICU, or ER is preferred.
• Strong IV skills and ability to educate patients across surgical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Op Excellence: Perform comprehensive physical assessments, initiate IV access, and ensure patients are prepared for surgery.
• Post-Op Recovery: Manage Phase II recovery and pain control as part of discharge readiness.
• Specialized Care: Adapt nursing interventions to the needs of various surgical specialties.
• Safe Discharge: Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative care and warning signs.
