Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Dubuque, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Rehab Unit. This 0.9 FTE position features 12-hour day shifts (6 am–6:30 pm) in a unit caring for acute medical and surgical patients, with telemetry monitoring as needed.

You will collaborate with LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and physicians to deliver safe, evidence-based care, perform assessments, develop and adjust plans, and communicate patient progress to the team.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree in nursing and current RN licensure in Iowa.
• BSN preferred; BLS required; ACLS if unit has telemetry.
• Mandatory Reporter training must be completed within 3 months of hire.

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. Essential Functions

• Conducts assessment
• Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
• Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
• Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
• Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
• Demonstrates clinical competence
• Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
• Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
• Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Schedule

• .9 FTE, 36 hours per week
• Day shift: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm
• RNs work 12-hour shifts
• Every third weekend
• Holiday rotation
• Schedules are made every six weeks ongoing. Staff are encouraged to select preferred shifts for scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
