DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health is proud to be a four-time Magnet-designated organization and has now earned Magnet with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet is the gold standard for nursing excellence, achieved by only about 10% of hospitals worldwide. Magnet with Distinction is awarded to the highest-performing Magnet organizations, with only a select few earning this prestigious honor. This recognition reflects our commitment to transformational leadership, professional nursing excellence, innovation, exceptional patient outcomes, and an empowering practice environment where nurses thrive.

Using the nursing process in the planning and delivery of care, the Clinic RN complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies and maintains a safe level of knowledge and skills with technical procedures. This position will be responsible for completing regular biopsychosocial assessments and care plans with patients, communicating and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure coordination of care, providing education to patients/families regarding treatment plans, medications, advance directives, appointments and so forth, assessing patients and families for additional resource and referral needs, evaluating response to plan of care and ensuring appropriate documentation.

This RN will also be cross-trained in the procedure room to ensure patient safety while providing pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care for adult and pediatric patients undergoing brachytherapy and/or moderate sedation. The RN will collaborate with the healthcare team working within the brachytherapy suite to ensure patient safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including infection prevention, sterile technique, instrument management, and care coordination.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.
