Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Louisiana is seeking a competent perioperative RN to practice in a fast-paced setting. The role involves independent nursing care, from assessment to evaluation, with appropriate delegation to other care providers to manage clinical situations.

The position requires a BSN (preferred), 1 year perioperative experience, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. RN license in Louisiana or a compact license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current PALS certification required
• BLS required
• RN License in state of employment or compact
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and a Perioperative Department-specific competency validation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
• Perioperative RN Residency, or recently practicing in an OR/Perioperative Setting preferred.

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.

• Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocol; monitors side-effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Educates patients, family members and/or care givers; identifies issues and resources.

Credential Grace Periods:

• Basic Life Support (BLS): Experienced Associates – No grace period. AHA or Red Cross accepted at time of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – No grace period. AHA or Red Cross accepted at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Experienced Associates – Within 30 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 90 days of hire.
• Pediatric Life Support (PALS): Experienced Associates – Within 30 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 90 days of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC): Experienced Associates – Within 60 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 18 months of hire.
• Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR): Experienced Associates – Within 60 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 18 months of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Experienced Associates – Within 30 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 60 days of hire.
• AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring): Experienced Associates – Within 30 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 60 days of hire.
• STABLE (Neonatal Education): Experienced Associates – Within 30 days of hire. New Graduate & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty – Within 60 days of hire.
