Job summary

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN license issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire.
  • Minimum two years of demonstrated recent nursing experience in Pulmonary Special Procedures/Interventional Pulmonology or similar acute care setting.
  • Moderate sedation experience.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with empathy and effective communication.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills for nursing interventions in moderate sedation.
  • Experience with or interest in providing individualized care to vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonary procedures (EBUS, navigation bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, tunneled pleural catheter, chest tube, tracheostomy).
  • Occasionally serve as OR circulator or scrub with sterile technique and observation of sterile fields.
  • Utilize EPIC OpTime when available; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
  • Provide autonomous nursing actions within ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONER Level.

This position requires assisting with special pulmonary procedures in an inpatient, outpatient, and OR capacity. You will work along side other team members and assist with bronchoscopy and other interventional pulmonary procedures including, but not limited to, EBUS, navigation bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, tunneled pleural catheter placement, chest tube placement, tracheostomy. At times you may be asked to assume the role of OR circulator or scrub, with a need to know and observe sterile techniques. Knowledge of EPIC OpTime is desirable. Must have a good understanding of airway management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire.
  • Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated recent nursing experience in Pulmonary Special Procedures/Interventional Pulmonology or procedural experience in GI, IR, ICU, and/or Perioperative Services in an acute care setting, within the past five (5) years.
  • Moderate sedation experience.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonaland communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to allstaff and patients.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursinginterventions and evaluate results, particularly in the area of moderate sedation.
  • Demonstrates experience with or interest in providing individualized care to vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • Experience working in Interventional Pulmonology.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $91.16 - $91.16

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
