Job summary

The Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PART-TIME (0.80) overnight (NOC) shift. You will assess residents, implement orders, and provide skilled nursing care in a long-term care setting.

Position includes benefits eligibility, a $2.75/hour shift differential for hours from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, and a potential $6,000 new hire bonus. Work schedule requires at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period.

Qualifications

This position provides professional registered nurse services in a long-term care, skilled nursing care facility. This position will assess the needs of the residents, suggest appropriate nursing interventions, implement orders and routines, and deliver skilled nursing care. This position may also coordinate, delegate, and review work of other nursing staff members.

This posting will be used to fill a PART-TIME (0.80) and primarily OVERNIGHT (NOC) shift vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Homes (MVH) - Minneapolis. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs.

  • The position is initially eligible for the FULL employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
  • The position is initially eligible for shift differential pay of $2.75 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long term care or other senior healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with Veteran population.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make, or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care and the ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments.

This position requires successful completion of the following:

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
