Job summary

UAB Medicine's MICU/1South in Birmingham is seeking a Part-Time ICU Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care per policy, implement and monitor care plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts for well-coordinated patient care.

Qualifications require BLS within 30 days, ACLS within 180 days, Alabama RN license prior to hire, and a nursing diploma. We offer benefits including PTO, parental leave and tuition reimbursement.

• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date or transfer date.
• Licensed RN credentialed by the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per established policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate care as primary multidisciplinary team lead.
• Note and execute physician and nursing orders.
• Coordinate discharge planning with healthcare team.

• Schedule: Part-Time Days and Part-Time Nights 7 to 7
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham

Our 1South ICU, which is also a Medical ICU, has 18 beds. Our Medical Intensive Care Unit has 11 beds. We pride ourselves on team cohesiveness. All of the patient care supervisors are readily available M-F and leadership of all levels has a great presence daily. We are always accepting new graduates, everyone enjoys teaching, and no one is left to do things alone.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
