Magnet is the gold standard for nursing excellence, achieved by only about 10% of hospitals worldwide. Magnet with Distinction is awarded to the highest-performing Magnet organizations, with only a select few earning this prestigious honor. This recognition reflects our commitment to transformational leadership, professional nursing excellence, innovation, exceptional patient outcomes, and an empowering practice environment where nurses thrive. The 8th floor at Hillcrest Medical Center treats a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions such as tuberculosis infection, COPD, sickle-cell crisis, cellulitis and diabetes. Nurses on this unit often have the opportunity to become well-versed in the treatment of liver and kidney diseases, COPD, diabetes and other chronic medical conditions. We offer opportunities for professional growth, continued learning and career development. The wide variety of patients makes working here both rewarding and challenging. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONER Level.
