Job summary

UAB Medicine's MedSurg unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham seeks a PRN Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care within established policies and procedures.

You will implement and monitor care plans, coordinate care across disciplines, and ensure orders are followed accurately. Qualified candidates hold an Alabama RN license with current BLS within 30 days, and have a diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• RN licensure and BLS certification required within specified timeframe.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and active Alabama RN licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care per policies and protocols.
• Implements, monitors and communicates patient care plans.
• Acts as primary coordinator of all disciplines for coordinated care.

What You Will Do

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required. One year of RN experience is required.
