Job summary

Texas Health Resources seeks an RN for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Step-Down on a PRN night schedule at Texas Health Allen. The role involves providing bedside nursing care in a 12-bed unit with 3:1 or 4:1 patient ratios, depending on acuity, and requires strong teamwork and clinical judgment.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning and delivering care, and ensuring safe, effective interventions.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Nursing or ADN required.
• BSN preferred.
• 1 year RN experience or completion of RN residency required.
• 2 years RN experience or 6 months Critical Care experience preferred.
• Current RN licensure required.
• BCLS and ACLS required; CPI training within 60–90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process.
• Assesses the patient and plans the care.
• Intervenes as appropriate and evaluates outcomes.
• Maintains safety and infection control measures.
• Communicates information to patients and families.
• Ensures continuity of care across shifts and transfers.
• Assists with patient and family education as needed.

What You Need

• Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• BSN preferred.
• 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of RN residency program Required
• 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse or 6 months Critical Care experience preferred
• Current RN licensure upon hire required
• BCLS—Basic Cardiac Life Support—Prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support -Required within 90 days of hire
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training -Required within 60 days of hire

What You Will Do

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
