Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking an experienced registered nurse to provide ambulatory nursing care for adults with hematologic and oncologic diseases. You will apply oncology/chemotherapy knowledge and use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.

The role requires an ADN or higher, RN licensure in Alabama, CPR certification, and a preference for BSN; two years of nursing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Two (2) years nursing experience preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and PALS certifications may be required for specific positions.
• BMTC may be acceptable for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional ambulatory nursing care to adult patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases.
• Demonstrate specialized oncology/chemotherapy knowledge and skills.

Job Description

To provide professional ambulatory nursing care to adult patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases. To demonstrate specialized oncology/chemotherapy knowledge and skills gained through formal education and several years of training. To deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating. To coordinate activities of other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care..

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Nursing. BSN preferred. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement. Two (2) years nursing experience preferred. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. BMTC (Bone Marrow Transplant Certification) may be acceptable for specific positions. If working in the Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Center, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is also required.
