Job summary

Proliance Bellingham Surgery Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to perform pre‑surgical nursing assessments and educate patients before admission. You will collaborate with the health care team and manage supplies while ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical experience.

The role is part-time (20 hours per week) with a schedule of Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Requirements include an accredited nursing program, current RN license with CPR/ACLS/PALS, and hospital/OR/ER experience

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation.
  • Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre‑surgical nursing assessments and educate patients prior to admission.
  • Assess care needs and coordinate pre‑surgical clearances and diagnostics.
  • Maintain a friendly, caring attitude with patients and staff.
  • Assist in ensuring proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for procedures.
  • Document care accurately and timely and maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Participate in continuing education and committee activities as assigned.

The RN performs pre‑surgical nursing assessments and provides education to the patient prior to admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN assesses and evaluates the care needs of the patient, requests necessary pre‑surgical clearances and diagnostics, and communicates the patient’s plan of care to the ASC.

Work Schedule: Part Time 20hrs per week; Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center
  • Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for the procedure
  • Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly
  • Monitor use of all supplies; assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used
  • Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient
  • Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes
  • Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center
  • Take an active role on committees within the department
  • Identify actual and potential risk to patients and others and take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety
  • Perform charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested
Education/Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation
  • Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired
