Job summary

MedCadre in New York seeks an experienced Med/Surg Radiology nurse to support peri-procedural care. You will liaise with the medical team, prepare patients for procedures, and manage IV therapy and contrast administration.

The role requires post-operative care, patient education, and telemetry monitoring, with a focus on patient safety and rapid assessment of transitions during procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg Radiology experience in a large acute care hospital setting.
• Strong physical assessment skills and ability to monitor patients during procedures.
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy.
• Experience with wound care and infection control principles.
• Ability to perform post-operative care and monitor patient status.
• Provide patient education and telemetry monitoring as required.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Serving as a liaison between the patient and the medical team.
• Preparing patients for a procedure.
• Starting intravenous fluids to inject special dyes or contrast mediums into patients.
• Administering barium enemas or solutions before procedures.
• Monitoring a patient's vital signs or their status during procedures to identify changes.
• Identifying unexpected reactions in patients during procedures.
• Administering analgesia and sedating patients upon instruction.
• Updating the medical staff on a patient's status.
• Reassessing patients after procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg Radiology experience in a large acute care hospital setting. The most recent experience should be within the past year.
